A Gripping and Emotional Page-Turner! Must-Read!
By Chesmok on August 18, 2015 Format: Kindle Edition “This Nearly Was Mine” is a gripping and emotional page-turner. This novel details the adventures of Annie, a young Jewish woman struggling to find meaning and purpose in her life after problems with her fiancé, Bill force her to escape to Spain. Nancy Farkas weaves together a highly detailed, beautifully written story filled with humour and vivid imagery. I loved the pop culture references as well as the riveting anecdotes interspersed throughout the book. This book reads like a masterfully told memoir, featuring a relatable and flawed narrator that the reader can instantly sympathize with. My favourite part about the book was the exquisite details about Spain. They really helped whisk me away to Europe. I felt like I was right there with Annie as she stumbled through her various trials and tribulations. Annie bares her heart and soul to the reader in an incredibly intimate fashion that’s rare in today’s Chicklit novels. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to any lover of contemporary literature. 4.5 stars!
