By Gabbyshonestbookreviews on January 15, 2016 Format: Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase I really loved this book. It was funny and heart breaking and sweet and alot of other things wrapped up in one. I think as our main character is telling us the story shes also talking to movie people as well telling them what music to play where and how the scene should end. I love how this sorry is about first love and old love and some loves never dying, oh and we can't forget about the love you wish you never had at all. I can't wait to see what else I see from this author 5.0 out of 5 stars Worth your time to read
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 6, 2016 Verified Purchase When I first started reading this book I thought I could guess where it was going. What a misjudgment. This book is full of surprises. It tells its tale from two sides whilst interweaving characters that may only touch the story but are nevertheless important. A really enjoyable read. 4.0 out of 5 stars NOT FOR EVERYONE
Reviewed in Canada on December 7, 2015 Verified Purchase I can't really pinpoint what I like about this book, or why I like it. It reads like someone's diary. Life can be very mundane on the outside, but looking into someone's private thoughts is interesting to me. If you are looking for action, this book is not for you. But if you are looking to read about someone's life timeline it's really good. I like how Annie is so happy in her marriage. Even though the world she lives in is full of temptations to feel otherwise. Thank you, Nancy Farkas! I want to read more of your books. 5.0 out of 5 stars Five Stars

By su green on December 2, 2015 Format: Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase Best endorsement.....I'm writing this review at 3:15 AM. Annie is all of us...or there is a bit of Annie in all of us....whichever way you prefer, I can't imagine anyone not relating to some or all of the life experiences, neuroses and wishful thinking that make up Annie's story. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger....so true. 5.0 out of 5 stars I had just taken a trip with a fictional best friend to the coast of Spain and back By Cynthia Magriel Wetzler on September 22, 2015 Format: Paperback When I finished reading Nancy Farkas' novel, "This Nearly Was Mine" a few months ago I turned the last page, shut the book and sighed. I had just taken a trip with a fictional best friend to the coast of Spain and back. She had shared her deepest feelings with me with a wide-open generosity, a delightful innocence and a hard-won wisdom. Plus she made me laugh. I knew this fictional girl and later woman. I was compelled to have my own conversations with her character, Annie. "I know, I know, Annie," I wanted to say. "I've felt exactly the same way." What I didn't expect was for the story to linger with me, long after I had tucked it away in my bookcase. Nancy Farkas has a captivating narrative voice. Enjoy it! A Gripping and Emotional Page-Turner! Must-Read!
By Chesmok on August 18, 2015 Format: Kindle Edition “This Nearly Was Mine” is a gripping and emotional page-turner. This novel details the adventures of Annie, a young Jewish woman struggling to find meaning and purpose in her life after problems with her fiancé, Bill force her to escape to Spain. Nancy Farkas weaves together a highly detailed, beautifully written story filled with humour and vivid imagery. I loved the pop culture references as well as the riveting anecdotes interspersed throughout the book. This book reads like a masterfully told memoir, featuring a relatable and flawed narrator that the reader can instantly sympathize with. My favourite part about the book was the exquisite details about Spain. They really helped whisk me away to Europe. I felt like I was right there with Annie as she stumbled through her various trials and tribulations. Annie bares her heart and soul to the reader in an incredibly intimate fashion that’s rare in today’s Chicklit novels. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to any lover of contemporary literature. 4.5 stars! |
